Going To The Beach

Grown Up Girls Go To The Beach!

I think I can put this post on my Really Useless list this week but I did enjoy putting it together!  I love going to the beach.  No, I REALLY love going to the beach. But more than that, I love going to the beach kitted out with my list of grown up essentials. This does not mean an old towel stuffed into a grocery store carrier bag.  And I like to do Beach with a tad of style thrown in.  Now that The Offspring is all grown up I can go to the beach without the usual assortment of inflatable boats & dolphins, without a cool box containing juice and snacks just in case the beach bar can’t come up with Jam sandwiches and Fruit shoots and without all manner of other associated paraphernalia that children on a beach need. Not that I didn’t enjoy the beach with the small people but I can now enjoy it a different way. Now I can go to the beach (and The Offspring is my most favourite beach buddy) with my stylish bag filled with my grown up toys! Read; a sarong that matches my swimwear, (maybe even 2), a choice of sunglasses, a bottle of Soleil Toujours Sunscreen, reading material (I found reading on a beach with children just isn’t worth trying), Thermal Water Face Spray, lip glosss,  if necessary, a stylish towel (that may even co-ordinate with my swimwear) if called for, are amongst my grown up essentials. Firstly a stylish bag is a necessity. I love to use a traditional French Market Basket. Alexandra Knight Market Basket for the beach   Music is a beach essential. Cotton Beach Club is my current sun lounger favourite.  You can listen while you read on!

I pack the little bottle of Chanel UV essential factor 50 just for my face.  It doesn’t leave a sticky or greasy film on your face. It  leaves your face matte and smooth rather than shiny. Chanel UV Essential to use at the beach A change of swimwear and sarong or a wafting kaftan are another essential as sitting down to lunch in wet bikini bottoms is not my idea of a good time.  Although having lunch brought to my sun lounger on a tray is one of my favourite sports (thank you Hotel Martinez, Cannes). Melisa Odabash Kaftan for lunch at the beach   A little accessories bag of ‘keep me looking human’ essentials is a big must. Hair bands, hair brush, lipgloss, refreshing eau de cologne spray (an alcohol free spray is best, save the alcohol for the sunset cocktails), talc (sprinkle over sandy toes and the sand wipes right off – see, something Really Useful) Sprinkle talc over sandy toes and it wipes right off. Really Useful! Click To Tweet
